When Fleur Delacour-Weasley returned to France, Bill had no shortage of witches – and wizards – vying to be her successor. Tired of feminine wiles, Bill turned the witches away en masse.
Viktor Krum, dark and athletic, was good for a quick rebound affair, but beyond shagging the Quidditch player senseless, Bill had no plans to spend any kind of time with the man.
When Neville Longbottom showed up at the Burrow one summer afternoon with an offer to help tame the back garden, Bill sat and quietly contemplated the other man while he worked, shirtless, his back dripping sweat.
“Our hero.”

Neville looked up as a shadow blocked out the sun. He’d been working up quite a sweat in the Weasleys’ back garden, pruning flutterby bushes that had grown to the size of their chicken coop, and pulling the weeds that threatened to overtake the space.
“Here,” said the shadow, offering an icy glass of lemonade. “I thought you could use this after spending the afternoon in the heat.”
“Thanks,” said Neville as he took the glass in one hand, shading his eyes with the other. Ah, Bill. Neville had heard that Fleur had left him. “You are a real hero.”
*~*
As the sun sank behind the broom shed, painting the sky a brilliant shade of red, Bill and Neville sat on the kitchen stairs, talking. The fireflies had begun their nightly dance, and Neville could hear the garden gnomes undoing some of the work he’d done that afternoon.
“I saw you on the cover of Witch Weekly,” commented Neville. “Wizarding Britain’s Most Eligible Bachelor, they said.”
“That was two weeks after your cover,” replied Bill. “Hogwarts’ Hero Still Single 5 Years After Final Battle.”
“Can’t they leave us alone?”
“If we were together, they would.”
“So, dinner, then?”
“Sounds good.”

Nicely done, dear! :)
