This time of day, Bill knew he would find Neville in the greenhouses. With his classes finished for the day, and time yet before supper, Bill's husband liked to work with the plants in his personal greenhouse - or garden, but since that lay under a blanket of snow...
Bill passed through greenhouse three, into Neville's private greenhouse. He paused to admire the Mimbulus mimbletonia and its latest offspring before continuing deeper into the lush greenery. If Pomona Sprout had had a green thumb, the certainly Neville had a whole green hand, Bill thought.
Neville was at the potting table, filling terra cotta urns with rich, black earth. As he worked, he hummed the latest Weird Sisters hit, though Bill thought he was slightly off-key.
"What are you planting?" Bill asked in a low voice, not wishing to startle Neville, lest the seedlings be of a delicate or sensitive nature.
"Flutterby bushes for the Burrow," Neville responded. "Your Mum wants them for Ginny and Oliver's wedding this summer." As he talked, he continued working, carefully tucking each tiny plant in to the hole he'd created by poking a finger into the soil.
"Ah, yes," commented Bill with a wry smile twisting his lips. "The social event of the season."
"Be nice," Neville admonished.
"You know how I hate big parties," Bill grumbled.
"I know," said Neville. "But as at any wedding, there will be dancing, and I intend to fill your dance card and keep you so busy you'll forget all about how much you hate being 'sociable'. Then, after rubbing my hips against yours all night, I'm going to take you home and make love to you until morning."
"I'd still rather spend the whole time alone with you," said Bill. "Preferably naked."
"Well," said Neville, "we could always skip dinner tonight and go straight to dessert..."
