I'm getting to old for this ...
... but damn, did I have a good time!
Last night, Matchbox Twenty played in Toronto. I saw Rob Thomas on his solo tour a couple years ago, in a smaller forum (last night was at the Air Canada Centre, home of the losing Leafs), and it was fantastic, but you can't beat the arena rock concert.
Alanis Morissette opened - well, a group called New Math opened, but we missed them in favour of food - and she was okay. Played mostly her older stuff like Ironic and You Oughta Know but I didn't find her performance to be too entertaining. She mostly paced back & forth across the stage, and when she didn't do that, she either did a spastic head-banging hair-waiving jump-dance, or did a weird back & forth two-step at the mike. Songs were good though!
MB20 was really good ... they played a mix of their big hits, new songs from Exile on Mainstream and some of the songs from older albums that weren't radio releases. They ended with one of my favourites, Push, and didn't miss anything I really wanted to hear.
I almost bought a concert t-shirt, but I hardly ever wear anything like that, even on casual day at school. What I did buy, though, was a USB wristband with a recording of the concert on it. Now I just have to get the darn thing to work. When I put it in my USB port, it asks if I want to format it. Somehow, I don't think that's what I'm supposed to do with it.
Of course, this morning I feel hungover - and I didn't drink. (good thing, too ... we were stopped by the R.I.D.E. program on our way to the expressway)
